Geese From Canada?

My mom saw these Geese last week when she
was at one of her accounts in Irving, Texas. (My mom is on "Big World assignment" even when she is working!)

They are called Canada Geese. They are very common in Texas in the winter months, and migrate throughout Texas.

They like to fly in "V" formations across the sky. Sometimes they are called the "Canadian Honker" because of the interesting musical honking sounds that they make.

A sad fact is that the Canada Goose is considered a game bird and it is widely hunted in Texas! This upsets me a lot. I think that since they are called "game birds", then they should be able to play lots of games! I would play with them, you know.....

I like Canada Geese, and they are another type of birdie which makes them some of my favorite friends! I hope you like them too.

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my SMALL WORLD too, thanks!

Hi JB
I'm sorry that the Canadian Geese are being hunted in Texas. It makes me very sad too.
I love the sounds of Canada geese as well. Here in Canada they are now returning home and they are coming back in the V formations in the sky and you can hear the honk honk sounds for miles away as they fly overhead me as they make their way to the wetlands where they will stay for the summer. I know you would have fun playing there!!

Those birds are bigger then you, JB? I glad they are friendly. My mum said she was born in Abilene TX, has your mum been there? Looks warm there. Wish I was there.

That's really sad about them being hunted. My human told me about the geese he saw all over Vancouver when he deserted me one time (he calls it a vacation). Anyway, I’d like to tell you that I’ve written a scathingly funny book, The World Is Your Litter Box, which will be out May 6th. The book is cleverly disguised as a cute cat book so humans will buy it, but is, in fact, a how-to manual FOR cats. Check it out on my website, www.theworldisyourlitterbox.com.

Hi JB,
Yeah.. it's kinda disappointing to know that although they are 'game birds', they can't play any games. I'd like to play bitey face with them, you know..

Nice birdies, I think they should play their own games with those stupid hunters.

Hi JB, these are nice photo. Oh there is something I did not know, about them being hunted. We are not allowed to do that in Canada, even when they filled sometimes corn fields. We have many here and some already arrived. See them flying in every morning, but they are confused I think because we are still having lot of snow on the ground. JB thanks for sharing, good info and nice images. Anna :)

we don't like it that the Canada geese are hunted. we have a lot of them where we live too and in some areas they are considered to be pests. we like them. we think they should be able to live in peace. but then we think all creatures should live in peace. well, we can dream, can't we?!

Incredibly to see so big birds near the great cities! And here the hunters kill everything they see. Sad. I like to see when humans can live with animals in piece. It's so beautiful... Seems to be, if those animals are not too marry foxes...

Some days ago I saw a buzzard over our earth.

How sad that they are hunted there! For all I know they are here, too.....along with ducks. I just can't bear hunting even though I know it is sometimes necessary. JB must be very brave to want to play with Canada Geese! My little Hopey would be terrified....but then she is terrified of EVERYTHING!
