Beep Beep!

Since my mom is not traveling on Big World Assignment again till Labor Day, I would like to show you some of my local Texas animal friends.

This is my friend, the Greater Roadrunner! He takes a sprint across our backyard every so often, and mom finally got a good picture of him after he jumped up on our fence. Roadrunners are members of the Cuckoo family. Did you know he can sprint up to 15 miles per hour and he only flies if he is super stressed out?

He eats almost anything that moves, like insects, spiders, scorpions, lizards, rodents and small birds. AND, guess what? He is famous for killing snakes! I guess my neighborhood should feel safer with such a brave birdie around, since our recent snake incident!

One thought that I do ponder (and you know I have a lot of thoughts), is why didn't I hear him saying "Beep Beep!" like in the cartoon? Or does he only say that when he is running away from Wile E. Coyote??

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my SMALL WORLD too, thanks!

lol....I bet that is pretty neat to see him run really fast...send him my way and I will see if he wants to race me....I bet I am faster then he is...
Gizmo does look good in those pictures. Mum only posts the good ones. Several times last night, mum had to jump up and scoop Gizmo up and clean his mouth, cuz nasty stuff was coming out and it had blood in it. Mum is upset to say the least. She says what is so much harder about Gizmo is, he does look so good and acts fine some days. Its just inside his mouth is the cancer. Mum says she wishes he would just die already, cuz she can't stand watching it anymore.

Mum says no worries about talking about the alternative and stuff, just facts of life and the things we have to do... Mum gives him this pain medicine, but he doesn't act like he is in pain at all..This will be the third time it has come back so fast...Mum says the first sign that she knows it is already back again is, I start trying to clean his mouth and I babysit Gizmo alot so I am always the first to know..then Gizmo will stick his foot in his water and paddle instead of drinking and it takes longer for him to eat his soft food. BUT, the dead give away is, this drool that starts coming out and mum noticed last night it was tinged with blood..so she just cleaned him up and gave him some meds and made sure he ate his food and then she took him to bed with her. He is a very tough lil dog. But there is nothing more she can do. She did notice he keeps rubbing is eyes with his paws, so she wonders if it has spread to his head or elsewhere. Right now she just cherishes the good days. She is going to take more and more photos so she has them. I am just going to play with Charlotte and let mum be. Sorry this was so long...Mum will be fine she says, cuz she is blessed to have such wonderful friends all over the world and to have had the opportunity to share her life with Gizmo

Oh the roadrunner is very pretty! And you're right, he doesn't look a thing like the cartoon road runner. *smile*

Birds!!! Watch out, those things will poop on you from up in the sky. I saw it happen to my human. Twas funny!

I hear that the package finally arrived to The kitties! Woohoo!

I have a pregunta (question)...is it best to comment on your big world or your small one?

Oh, and Satan she tried to steal my human last night by sneakily crawling in the bed and pokey pawing my human! I was not pleased...by the way...Satan says hi!

Slurp!

That's pretty neat.... I have never seen one before except on the cartoons, of course and I really really wish that one day that poor mister Wile E. Coyote would catch the road runner... =)

Oh, it really is great having such bird around the house. That bird is interesting to me; I’ve never seen it before. Great photo!

That's a road runner? Are you sure? He doesn't quite look like the road runner on TV! He is prettier though. I didn't know he can sprint up to 15 miles per hour! Do you think he can do zoomies? If he eats anything that moves, please be careful JB. We don't want him to eat you.

We need that roadrunner in my mum and daddies bedroom....A spider crawled across my daddy and he freaked...mum laughed and made fun of him like he was a lil boy...then all the sudden a spider just jumped out of no where from mummy's pillow and landed on her cheek....She said she will never tease daddy again. With all the rain, the lil critters are coming inside to dry off I guess.

Scorpions!!! Holy moly. My mum would freak over one of those. It reminds her of the mummy movie. You are very brave to play with a scorpion JB....

The female says there are also roadrunners in Arizona, which is the land that she's from. She never heard one say "beep beep" either. Alas, right now there are no book signings scheduled for Texas, but I'll let you know if that changes. BTW, I've been meaning to ask: what's the difference between JB's Small World and JB's Big World? You're lucky to have 2 blogs.

What a cool bird that roadrunner is! I would love to see one! I've been disappointed each time I've been to Arizona that I never manage to see one!

JB, can you believe my Mom wants to see Ronnie Milsap? He's gonna be playing at the county fair, but Dad doesn't want to go and her country friend rather would see an A's game. Hopefully her coworker will go with her. But, Mom is going to be seeing Brad Paisley in a couple weeks and the day after she is seeing Terri Clark at the county fair.

Fantastic! I've only seen two roadrunners in my life. One crossed the road in front of the car when I was in California. The other one did a lot of "beep-beeping" in a cartoon. ;-)

We sure wish we had road runners here. Katie the Whippet says she thinks she could beat him at a race.
We just love to see pictures of all the birds we don't have in this part of the country. It's really interesting and your Mom is a wonderful photographer. It's the next best thing to being there.
