Pretty as a Peacock!

Here are my new fancy Indian Blue Peacock friends, and they live in the Haarlemmerhout, which is the oldest public park in the Netherlands. This park is near where my mom visited her aunt in Haarlem, North Holland.

Mr. Peacock was very intent on getting the attentions of his lady friend and showed his full spread of beautiful tail feathers! His lady friend, the Peahen was not as colorful as Mr. Peacock. She acted like she was not interested, but since it was mating season, he kept hooting and hollering at her and rustling his feathers.

Finally Mr. Peacock decided to take a rest, and try to show his affections again later with his lady friend.

Mr. Peacock has some fancy feathers on the top of his head too! Mom got some good shots of him. But then he started to get a little irritated with my mom, when she kept asking him if he would be my friend......

Mr. Peacock said" "ALRIGHT, ALREADY! I WILL BE JB'S FRIEND!! NOW LEAVE ME ALONE SO I CAN SPEND TIME WITH MY LADY FRIEND!

He slowly turned and started to walk away.....grumbling and squawking all the way.

Finally he had turned his birdie butt on my mom completely.

My friend, Mr. Peacock, is "pretty as a peacock", but he is also "pretty" irritable!

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my SMALL WORLD too, thanks!

Peacocks are very beautiful, well the male ones are. We have a lot of peacocks that live quite close to us.

I expect he was irritable with the lady peacock, not your mum :O)

I'm glad your mom took those photos because I never saw a peacock's head in detail like that. Never saw that crown before. It must be difficult to haul that plumage everywhere! LOL

Oh the peacock is beautiful. There are a few living in our town of Leura. We can hear them sometimes but luckily for them we haven't seen them yet.

Ummmmm that Peacock is pretty, but uhhhh also very scary! Fear not JB!!!! I would totally save you from that feathery Beast! I would bark..."Stay back Foo! Don't make me bite you! JB will swat and I will bite!" Yea, that's how it would go down.

Don't forget to post pictures of your goody exchange package!!! Go to Chef's blog and post it in the Album!!! Woohoo! Can't wait to see!

Like Deetz, my Mom also has a giant vase of peacock feathers. She has so many feathers that it almost looks like a real male peacock spread his feathers out in a fan... well, okay, maybe not THAT many, but that's the look she was going for. The vase of feathers is right in the entry way to our house! You can't miss them when you walk into the house.

AND, she has some smaller feathers, half "eyes" I think, that are in a tiny vase in the bathroom.

I wonder if a peacock loses his feathers, if they can regrow. I think it is mean to pluck their feathers if they can't regrow them. I certainly wouldn't like if it someone plucked at my whiskers!

Those are beautiful pictures, JB! I think your Mom must have been on vacation for more than just a week! Else how did she manage to take so many pictures of your animal friends?

I am sorry your mummy had a bad dream about a snakie....My mum says when she has a freaky dream that doesn't make sense she goes to a website and looks up the meaning...kinda like the snake being red for some reason in your mummy's dream...here is the link to the site...its kinda fun to hear her read the meanings....

Oooh, wonderful series of photos, indeed! Each photo is great but I love the first one the most. I like peacock and it is great to see its tail feathers full spread. It really is beautiful.

JB,
My guess is that the FedEx delivery man left a card that they can call and hoefully arrange something...or maybe have it left at the FedEx store and they can pick it up...

Although the peacock is beautiful, our Mom is scared of them because she got chased and pecked by one many years ago.
She loved your beautiful photos though.
