Mom shot a few pictures of these Sparrows, who were also eating from our backyard bird feeder. That sure is a big mouth you have, little Sparrow!

The mommy Sparrow kept flying to the feeder and then bringing the baby more food. The mommy and the baby are just about the same size! I wonder how long the mommy will keep feeding the baby?
(If anyone knows how long, please let me know.)
These photos are not so clear, because mom took them through our kitchen window, but what a cute sight these birdies are!

Hi, JB-
It's funny: my human mom just reported a similar feeding practice between a mother robin and her fledged kid, who was also almost as big as bird mom. We just checked one of our favorite websites, http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/index.html, and they say there that sparrows only feed until the babies fledge. But both your little guy and my mom's robin have definitely fledged, or else they wouldn't be out and about posing for pictures. It's all very strange. A few years ago, -Time- Magazine reported that this newest generation of human kids don't really reach independent adulthood until around 25 years. Maybe these Generation Next birds are also depending upon mom and dad longer than ususal? I wonder if they'll graduate from bird college and move into the basement nest.
These 2 birdies are so sweet together! Great you could have captured this moment!
This is very sweet! Must be a great camera your mum has.

Wow, I can't believe that's a baby sparrow. Are you sure? He seems awfully large to be fed by his Mom. I guess he's just a big baby! My mom loves sparrows over the other birdies. When my mom was growing up, there was this one sparrow... every afternoon he'd park himself next to my grandparents' VW bug, right by the shiny hubcap, and try to jump into it!
My parents haven't been to Maui in ages. But, it really is their favorite Hawaiian Island. I think a lot of people in CA go to Hawaii because it's so "close", yet not too far.
As for concerts, my Mom seems to be into them this year. It's actually been years since she saw one... the last time was one summer when she saw Toby Keith and then Alan Jackson.
How very cute!!! That baby *is as big as his mommy!
Those are good pictures of the babies being fed! I think our sparrows must have had a bumper crop. Now they all swarm my suet feeder trying to get all the suet. Drives the Downys nuts.
That's so cute to see the mommy feeding her baby. My mommy loves to bird watch too!

hi JB, we love those birdies. our mom wishes we had birdies outside our window, and so do we, but since we are bird dogs, we chase them all away and then they don't come back. poor us. we love birdies.

Wow JB ya sure have alot of wildlife in yer yard and around yer neighborhood....I read on ta several other posts 'n see ya were upset about baby moles yer Mom threw away.....cry not JB, fer had we been around those baby moles, they would not have been breathin'...My Mom is a mole exterminator extraordnaire...'n ya... bein' a cat, should want ta get 'em too...'n hug 'em til they don't squeak anymore....I think ya need ta come around here fer awhile so we can have a nice long talk with ya. He is a big baby. Maybe he's her only one and they have an extra strong attachment. We have a lot of Mourning Doves and I just love them. Cardinals too. :) Do you make a cute little noise when you bird watch JB?
