The Importance of Prayers

Today I would like to introduce a backyard friend, called a Praying Mantis. He is known by this name, because he often stands in a praying position. When in this position, however, he is really not praying, but he is looking for his next meal of live insects. He is very good at camouflaging himself in order to not get eaten himself, though mom still caught a good shot of him!

On a more serious note, I would like to talk about the Importance of Prayers. There is a doggie called Jackson who lives in the UK who is very sick. He needs lots of prayers from as many of us as he can right now. He has gotten some terrible news about his health. Please go visit him at Jackson's World and send him some prayers.

My good friend, Deetz, asked that I post these Prayer Flags on my blog, that his friends made, to help Jackson get better. Let's all pray for Jackson.

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my SMALL WORLD too, thanks!

We are crossing our fingers and paws for Jackson.

I have been a busy dog! You already know about the Barkday Party I attended the previous Saturday. Well, I had another Eskie party just this past Sunday! 9 eskies! And on Saturday my Mom got to see 3 week old eskie puppies. And then on Monday my Mom played tourist and showed 2 eskies the sites of San Francisco, with Casper, too! Oh, so much to blog about, but so little time.

When is your Mom going to Maui? How is her house selling going?

Hi again, JB. The eskie picnic Kodak went to was in Minnesota. We know some of those eskies that attended! The next Bay Area eskie event is at my breeder's house for our 9th annual reunion! Whoo hoo! That's in September. Then after that is another Eskie Meet in November. I am a busy girl.

Uh oh. Only 4 showings? Maybe your Mom should consider finding renters for the house instead of selling it.

A trip to Maui might help your Mom and Daddy Len take their mind off the house stuff, but I wonder if it'll still be in the back of their mind.

I forgot to tell you my Mom said the garage smelled stinky... so she looked for the source... and she found a mouse that had eaten the peanut butter sandwich!

Wow your mom got a wonderful shot of the praying mantis, we have never seen one in person before. We are sorry to hear that Jackson is sick. We will go visit.

That's a great picture of the praying mantis! A bunch of praying mantises hatched out in Mom's flower bed last year, and she got a kick out of watching them grow up.

And thank you so much for telling us about Jackson. I will go to his blog and give him and his family my purrs.

Purrs and snuggles from Marilyn!

Wow, your Mom will have a busy August between closing escrow, moving, figuring out what to do about the current house, Maui, and the Hayward thing. I just hope it's not Mervyn's though.

Hopefully this weekend I will get to post about the eskie fun I have been having the past 2 weeks!

Hi JB,
Poor little jackson.. will be crossing my paws and keeping him in my prayers definitely.

Hana said...

JB, so what exactly happens when a mouse goes to the glue trap? Do they just get stuck... and then Daddy Len has to "fix" the situation? The sandwiches my Mom uses do the "job" instantly.

Yes, we have Mervyn's here still. Lots of them. But, this week the TV news said they are declaring bankruptcy.

I FINALLY posted about my 1st July eskie gathering... I still have 3 more to go! (actually, come to think of it, I have had 5 eskie gatherings this July. Not 4.)

Thanks for taking a look at my latest post! No one really wanted to go into the pool. Kona and Zero had to be coaxed in, however when Kona is at home, she swims in her BIG pool every once in a while. There are actually lots of eskies who like to swim. Abby's guests just happened to be the kind who don't love water that much. As for posing on the jungle gym, it was the end of the day and it was hot, so we were tired. It was pretty easy to pose... we were already halfway there to begin with, before our humans asked us to get into certain positions. They are silly creatures, our humans. The things we do to humor them.

G'day JB
We're very sad after hearing about our pal Jackson. We've been sending lots of positive thoughts his way.

Oh JB, tonight my Mom found one peanut butter sandwich turned upside down, without the peanut butter and without the culprit, and then she found the other sandwich with a mouse! So, she bought 4 more sandwiches... and will hopefully nip this issue in the bud now! She is ready for a whole family.... sorry about that JB. I know they are your friends.

Hello JB, thank you so much for posting this about me. It really means the world to me and the Js to have such great support from our blogging pals, old and new! J x

Another mouse caught this morning and another trap set off but no mouse in it. When will it end?

Hana said...

Hi JB, yes, our backyard backs up to the canyon where there are trees and hills and foliage. We have ivy in our backyard too... maybe that is a good mouse house! We're not sure how long we've had mice. When we moved in here about 7 years ago, we saw mouse droppings and caught some mice. Then recently we saw the droppings again, but not sure how long they have been there.

Wow, you have a mouse highway? Don't the mouse-police patrol that highway so they don't go on detour to your garage?

I sure hope Jackson is feeling better. He looks like a darling woofie.

The praying mantis picture is very cool!
