Yippee, Hippee, Hippos!

My mom has been lagging on Big World Assignment lately, so I will take you back to her trip to the Ft Worth Zoo. Yippee Hippee! It's a Hippopotamus! And quite a large one I might add! He sort of looks like a large pig, but his closest living relatives are animals like the Whale and Porpoise, etc. He likes to stay cool by hanging out in the water during the daytime.

Hippos are originally from Africa and they can be traced back to around 16 million years ago, from fossils that have been found! They like to eat grass and other plants.

My mom told me that Hippos are one of the most dangerous animals because they are very aggressive, so she told me I can be friends with them only if I stay far away.

I found out that I will have these Hippo friends for a long long time, because they can live to be 40-50 years old! My mom told me I will not live as long as my Hippo friends. Ha ha, I bet my mom won't live 40-50 more years either!

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my SMALL WORLD too, thanks!

Hmm... I have friends like that too.... aggressive, so I remain friends from far away too! LOL Really, it is for the best!

What a wonderful post!
I hope all is well with the move.

Sometimes "from afar" is the best place to view friends ... especially hippos! If you wanna meet some more hippos, the San Diego Zoo has some at Hippo Beach. Mom likes to go an' watch 'em.

Great Hippo shots! Funny that you mentioned the age, because our zoo has the oldest hippo in captivity....58....she celebrated her birthday last Saturday! Her name is Donna and they give her a big fruit popsickle instead of cake.

Hi JB!
Sorry for the absence these last weeks, but unfortunately it wasn’t due to some summer holidays… ;))
Thanks for your comments on Blogtrotter, now at the MoMA for Art and New York lovers! Hope you enjoy and wish you a great week! I’ll try to get back here to enjoy your pictures with some more time during the week!

I sure missed you too over the weekend. I was just updating my blog when you left your message. I loaded a video of my playing in my pool, well not playing but getting my snackies out of there...
Also I put a photo of Gizmo up too.
Hopefully my mum will have time to let me sit down and write you, cuz I have so much to tell.

I wouldn't mind being as big as a hippo if I could eat treats all the time! Hehehehe!

JB, was you able to see the video of me in my pool? It was refreshing for sure. The backpack idea is great or maybe get a saddle that you can ride on.....that would be cool. My mum says she hates her job and needs to win the lottery. She is having a bad day today...I will have to give her extra licks job never ends
