Danger, Danger!

Danger, danger! Hawk, Hawk! This is my friend, the Red-Tailed Hawk. Uh, well, I am not sure he is a friend, but he landed in my back yard, and this is JB's Big World, so he landed in my blog!

I find it suspicious that he landed in my backyard near the same time we found the feathers from my last post. Look at those scary paws.....I mean claws! What has happened? Has my friend the Hawk committed a crime?

Red-Tailed Hawks are memebers of the Buteo family, sometimes called "chicken-hawks". Their diet consists of anything from beetles, birds, snakes, rodents, to rabbits. Oh no, Rabbits? Peter Rabbit's cousins are in danger! Not to mention what happened to my feathered friend!

I better not go outside, or something bad could happen to me too! Red-Tailed Hawks are not my friends......good thing I don't like to go outside!

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my SMALL WORLD too, thanks!

I have never seen a chicken hawk before now. Now, I will know what one looks like if it lands in my yard. Good thing your toad house will be there tomorrow to protect the lil rodents and toads...maybe Peter Rabbit can get inside too

WOW... he's got some pretty big "claws" and I'm sure he could pick you up and carry you away!
You be careful about wandering out there, that's for sure!!

They can be very scary indeed! The PM hates seeing them circling the field when she knows we are out!

The hawk has an evil eye. And wow, look at those paws! Just admire him from afar, JB.

JB, we're not going to lie: we really, really love hawks. Look at that guy's feet? How could you be anything but smitten?

Sometimes we get hawks visiting here. I don't think the hawks we get are as big as yours. (Is everything bigger in Texas?) But I've never seen one sitting still like that. I have seen the blur as one swoops down for a meal though :-0

After a hawk's successful visit here everything gets quiet outside and stays that way for hours. Even the squirrels quit running around in the trees out back. But I guess hawks have to eat, too :-/

And I hear the calls of these birds (not this but similar specie) every day in the last time. This morning we made our walk with the dag and the cat and heared one calling his mom when he saw us. Poor birdy was afraid. We wanted to see him, but it was unpossible.

hi JB, that is a beautiful bird. it's too bad that he can't be your friend. we understand why he is not your friend, but he sure is an impressive birdy. you have to admire him just a little bit. just don't make friends with him.

woofs.
