Bad Hair Day at the Circus

This is the second post I will do as an add-on from my last post about the Carson & Barnes Circus that came to town. My mom was still sad about the animals, and she noticed that some of them were having a bad hair day!

Here is my new friend, the Alpaca. Alpacas are bred in South America for their great hair fibers, and the fiber is used in making blankets, sweaters and other textiles. This Alpaca lived with the Circus though, just for show.

Mom saw some more examples of bad hair on these Poodles. Mom was sad about them too when she saw them. They needed grooming pretty bad, and they all looked pretty old, and the Circus was making them work hard every day!

Hey! Poodles are not supposed to jump rope! I think these Poodles should be entitled to retirement, don't you?

Bad hair or not, I am glad my mom was able to check on my friends at the Circus, and I hope they will be able to retire soon.

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my SMALL WORLD too, thanks!

It is sad for animals to be in a circus. My Mommy managed to watch one video on YouTube of one Poodle being groomed at a circus in the back section. The groomer got fed up of it that he whacked the poor thing several times with the slicker brush so hard that it yelped & fell of the grooming table. Those Poodles in these pictures are kinda neglected because their hair aren't supposed to be that messy plus the grooming is badly done. Shows that they don't really care just as long they perform. Who knows what happens to them behind closed curtains. However, there are some animals(dogs particularly) that are well taken cared of in circuses & the animals are happily working with their trainer. One in particular that I know who is a very nice gentle lady who always rewards & praise them & they were very nicely groomed & taken cared of very well. My Mommy would love to perform with me in a Circus one day but just with her, no one else handles me & not full time like these poor guys. It'll be fun I guess especially with all the crowd watching me. Whee!!!

Hi JB,

It is pretty sad how some animals are made to work for entertainment. I'm glad your mom cares. I hope they get to retire soon. That Alpaca looks like he was also have a bad teeth day.

It is very sad. But as long as people pay to see this 'entertainment' I don't see it going away!

Yes, when people stop paying to get in, they will eventually close down. I haven't seen a circus in the UK in years. I wonder if we banned the use of animals in the circus. Something is ringing bells in my head but I'm not sure. I hope we did.

Oh JB, we totally know how you and your mum feel about circus animals. It's just not right or fair on them. People shouldn't go to circus' that involve animals. Then maybe people will stop making them preform. We're glad your mum could report that some of the animals looked well. Hopefully they're all well cared for.

JB I guess when performing, things can get a bit messy, lol. Excellent photos again, Anna :)

Hey JB....Lets find out where the circus is and we can sneak in late at night and help them escape...we will have to bring extra food and water though...maybe Sharkie could carry the extra weight?

Many people think of circuses as a magical childhood experience, and much of the entertainment is fine (like perfromances by adult humans who can choose whether or not to do the job), but we wish that circuses would stop using animals. It doesn't look like a very good life for an animal.

The poor doggies do look really scruffy. I wonder why animal circuses don't take care of their animals. How come those performers don't love animals the way our parents love us?

Poor animals. Sad to read that they are making them work so hard and not caring for them. We are very fortunate that our families do what is best for us.

We were thinking of the animals earlier. Thanks for the update. It's really sad to read this. We too hope they'll retire soon. And hopefully when they do, they'll be well taken care of. Heard of sad cases where these animals were dumped once they're no longer bringing in the money.

I don't like to see animal-shows in the streets and in circus too because I know thay are normally treated very bad. But sometimes you see (I've seen in TV, circus in Monaco) the extraordinary love and understanding between the man and the animal.

JB, we're no fans of the circus here, either. In our opinion, animals have to perform enough stupid tricks just living with us.
