Great Blue Herons!

Continuing on with my mom's Big World Assignment from Destin, FL, mom was pleased to report that she came in close contact with some Great Blue Herons!

This bird can be found near open shores and wetlands, and both fresh and salt water.

The largest Great Blue Herons can weigh up to 4.8 pounds, with a wingspan of 66-79 inches! These birdies are really BIG!

But what I would like to know is, are these furs or feathers hanging down from his chest??

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my SMALL WORLD too, thanks!

Yep, those big birdies hang around near my house, along with sandhill cranes and great egrets. I don't try to chase those big guys.

Wow, what a pretty bird. My sister and I both like to chase birds! Hmmmm, it's hard to tell if those are furs or feathers. You will have to let us know. Maybe your Mom will tell you.:)

Hm, I don't know if those are furs or feathers. Maybe you should ask the bird?

Blue Herons can also be found in Pacifica... at the fountain in Luna and Loki's neighbor's backyard that USED TO have some kind of fishy swimming in the fountain... but not anymore. Hopefully fishes have a rainbow bridge to go to.

My Mom will send your Mom some of the Knut photos for your Big World Blog! She will try to send them tomorrow, when her PC is back where it belongs.

Wow, JB! What a kool bird! We LOVE to birdwatch, but since Bruiser, The Bear came, our humans took down the one birdfeeder! We still have a suet feeder in front to watch, but it's just not the same. Hope you guys had a great weekend! (We did, we had the house to ourselves...PARTAY!)

I sure hope your ex-step daddy sure finds a full deck soon. Maybe they have full decks at petsmart or something we could send him.
We were close to hiding in the hole in the ground from those storms. It was kinda scary. Thats a cool looking birdie and I think he has furs, not feathers. I have sad of your baby dove friends, got blown out of our tree and took a nose dive..he did not survive. I am sure the dove would have been one of your friends.
Guess What? The corn fields are growing taller and taller..soon we can hide there.

JB, about the sea lions at Pier 39. I didn't have to ask them if they would be your friend. They asked me if THEY COULD BE YOUR FRIEND!!! You are famous, JB! Word has gotten around!
