Blausee - A Relaxing Place for Fish?

Mom continued on her Big World Assignment in Switzerland.  I really think she was taking some time off from her reporting duties a lot of the time.  On this day, she took a hike through a forest and found a relaxing place called the Blausee.

Ok, it did look relaxing, but what about the animals, mom?
Did you find me some animal friends?

Mom said she looked and looked, but all she found were Trout fish.  There were lots of Trout in the Blausee, and the water was crystal clear.

The sad part was that there was a restaurant nearby, that served the Trout from the lake.  I suppose these animal friends won't be around for long, as they might soon be on someone's plate!
(Secretly, I do like fishies on my own plate, so I am not so sure how I fell about this!)

Stay tuned for my next Switzerland post.
The Big World Report from Switzerland is almost done!

Lake Brienz, and Ballenberg Animal Friends!

Mom continued on with her Big World Assignment, and next stop was the beautiful Lake Brienz.

Mom went searching for animal friends in the town of Brienz.  She seemed to only be sightseeing again like here at the Brunngasse street which had buildings that were hundreds of years old.
But where are the animals, mom??

"Just wait, JB, just wait", said mom.

The next stop was nearby.  It was the Ballenberg, the Swiss open-air museum.  It was an outdoor museum showcasing century old buildings from all over Switzerland.
But I did not want to see more pictures of old buildings.....

.....I wanted to see animal friends!  Mom redeemed herself with lot of new friends for me here like this white Goat!

And this Cock-a-Doodle Rooster!

How do you do, Mr. Scottish Highland Cow!  My, what long wavy hair you have!  Wow, and I think I see some Fly friends hanging out there on your nose!

Then mom saw something she had never seen before.  A very large muddy Mama Hog nursing Piglets!

It's the "3 little Pig-lets"!!
Good thing there was no Wolf around, and no house to blow down.

And that is the "End" of this Post.

No Castle Cat, but a Swiss Swan and his Friends!

Mom's Big World Assignment continues from Switzerland!  On this installment of her report, she went to the town of Thun, which is also on the Thunersee Lake.
The 12th century Thun Castle is situated at the top of a hill, and can be seen from all over the town.
I decided not to even ask about any Castle Cat in this castle!

Once again, mom appeared to be sightseeing and not looking for animal friends.  This is an old bridge in Thun, that is over the river Aare, and this is the side where the water gushes through.  Mom loved seeing all the flowers everywhere.

Mom walked around to the other side which had much more calm waters.  More flowers!

I was beginning to worry about the report, but thankfully, mom did not disappoint.  She found me a beautiful Swan friend!
Then the Swan opened his mouth and spoke to mom!
He said, "Guten tag, to JB!  Ich bin ein Schweizer Schwan!"
That means he is a Swiss Swan in German!!

The Swan told mom to look for his friends.  Nearby mom found perhaps a Great Crested Grebe?  Mom says she thought it was a young one.

And then a friendly Swiss Duck, pointed mom is the direction of lots of Swiss Fish!  They could be a type of Trout.

Mom walked around town a little more......
What did she find?  A special Swiss CAT shop but much to her dismay, and more to mine I might add, the shop was closed for the week for vacation.  No Swiss souvenir for me.
I guess mom will have to return one day!

More Swiss animal friends to follow in my next post!

A Swiss Lizard and Where is the Castle Cat?

Mom submitted another Big World Report from Switzerland!  This time, mom decided she had better go by water on a boat and see what animal friends she could find for me!

Here is her boat, coming to pick mom up.  It is called the Bubenberg, and it makes daily trips all around the Thunersee, which is the lake where mom stayed.

Mom kept trying to catch the schedule of the Blumlisalp boat, which is a paddle steamer, but it only runs once a day, and she kept missing it.  She saw it from her hotel room though!

Mom told me she disembarked from the boat to look inside the Oberhofen Castle for a Castle Cat!
The castle had two towers, so I bet that is where mom would find the Castle Cat.

Once she got inside, I think she got distracted looking at art.  Mom!!!

Mom climbed to the top of the large tower of the castle and found a Turkish smoking room where people used to smoke in the olden days.
Do you suppose the elusive Castle Cat might be up here somewhere, overloaded on Catnip?

Mom said she had a surprise when she was leaving the castle, and all was not lost on this Big World Report.
Hey, I bet that Castle Cat is hiding in that cute little tower with his Catnip!!

Mom then showed me that she found me a Lizard friend!  It looks like a Common Wall Lizard!
Who knew that there were Lizards in Switzerland?

"Guten tag, JB!  Ich bin eine Schweizer Eidechse!"
I am a smart cat, and I think he told me he is a Swiss Lizard, in German!

It was time to go back to the hotel, so mom had to take the boat back to the side of the lake where she was staying, and she watched some of the lake activities, like this kite surfer.

A thought I must ponder.  There sure was a lot of sight-seeing going on and not a lot of reporting on animal friends.
Something was definitely amiss on this Big World Assignment!
